It was not cost effective to have 60 hexagonal clay tiles made here in Oklahoma City. Although possible, when ordering custom tile, large quantities are necessary to make the cost per piece reasonable. We chose the hexagonal shaped field tile so each tile would fit tightly against the other tiles. We did use locally sourced materials when they was feasible and available.

Why not purchase clay brick tiles in Oklahoma city? Do we not have clay quarries here in Oklahoma? Seems more green and good all way around. Also less foot print. I can see if someone is on a vacation trip to pick something up and bring home but. The Skirvin Plaza had custom tiles made for them here. I don't know if the clay was from here. But we do have brick quarries.

No. I'm from Orrville, Ohio and my parents still live there. I served in the Air Force and was stationed at Tinker AFB from 1983 - 1987. I like to joke that I couldn't afford the tolls or the airfare to leave Oklahoma when I was discharged - so I stayed. I love Oklahoma and believe the people are our greatest asset.

Thanks so much for being so kind to my daughter & son-in-law this afternoon. They enjoyed the tour of your amazing house and the building supplies you gave them. They are both full-time college students and dream to own a 100% sustainable home someday. Thanks for all your help!

P. S. Do your folks or grandparents attend St. John the Baptist church here in Edmond?
